  • Des Collines Seniors’ Roundtable (DCSR)

Information session
Legal experts from the Outaouais Community Justice Center provide free information on your rights and various legal documents (wills, protection mandates, power of attorney). A bilingual information session will be held on Tuesday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Luskville community centre (2024, Route 148).

Respite care available

The DCSR offers caregivers respite support and supervision for their elderly or ill parents at home, knowing they will be safe and looked after by a professional, qualified and friendly attendant when the caregiver needs to go out for personal reasons or wants to participate in DCSR activities such as our café-meetings or conferences.

Competitve rate: $5 per hour, minimum of three hours; service available day, evening and weekends.

  • Volunteers needed - Wakefield Hospital

Boutique Santé at the Wakefield Memorial Hospital is looking for volunteers to help maintain its day, evening and weekend schedules. The Boutique is run by volunteers and proceeds go to the Collines Health Foundation. If you are interested and you can spare a few hours per month for a good cause, call Pamela Scobie at 819 360-5326.

Brief description:
Centre Wakefield La Pêche offers10 fun-filled weeks of day camp. We provide age specific programming and weekly trips to Lac Philippe which provides for a well-rounded camp experience for kids. Each week, we explore a different theme through a variety of activities such as crafts, games, adventures and sports – the perfect combination to get your child active and engaged.

Brief description:

This program offers campers 9 to 14 years old the opportunity to become more independent and explore their freedom within new boundaries. Get ready for a week of learning new skills and having fun while focusing on the topic of your choice. Participants will join our other dynamic day camp, for our outings to Lac Phillippe.

  • Open House: La Pêche Baseball Registration

It's time to register your children for the baseball season. Come and meet us during the open house at Des Lacs high school and have a try-out with the coaches. Registration and exchange of used equipment on site.

  • Sentiers Wakefield Trails Annual General Meeting

The AGM will take place on Saturday, April 18 at the Wakefield La Pêche community centre, beginning at 5 p.m., right after Earth Day celebrations. Drop in for a coffee and find out what we have been up to and what we are planning for 2020.

Nordic Walking – Every Monday morning, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Poles are provided; dress for the weather.

Wakefield Senior Café – Every Monday morning, from 10 a.m. to noon. Join us to socialize with friends, have a cup of coffee and play some cards or just chat. ($3 drop-in)

BeActive Fitness for 50+ every Wednesday and Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Exercise at your own pace. ($5 drop-in)

Card Night at the Centre starting Wednesday, March 11 from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Euchre and 500 are the main card games we play.   • Fairbairn House-Event Coordinator

Fairbairn House will be hiring a coordinator to oversee the covered bridge weddings and event rentals, on behalf of the Municipality of La Pêche. This is a one-year contract starting April 1, 2020 and hours of work will be based on seasonal demand, with more hours from May to October. Qualifications: communications skills in French and English (oral and written), experience in event coordination and client relations. See www.fairbairn.ca for job description. The Municipality of La Pêche and the Fairbairn House Heritage Centre are hiring students this summer to work as tourist information clerks and heritage centre guides.
