La Pêche awarded $ 175,000 to develop plans, estimates, and conceptual assessments for a net-zero-energy City Hall
September 15, 2020

La Pêche, September 15, 2020 – The Municipality of La Pêche is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $175,000 from the Green Municipal Fund for an architectural survey to develop plans, estimates, and conceptual assessments for the planned net-zero-energy City Hall. The Municipality will use the money to plan out a mix of different approaches to energy efficiency, including green roofs, efficient lighting, geothermal heating, and solar panels. La Pêche also intends to incorporate environmentally friendly materials such as structural wood and recycled materials.

The architectural survey is directly linked to the main directions and goals of the Municipality’s 2019–2023 Strategic Plan . At the delivery stage, the project will help the province meet three of the five targets in the Government of Québec’s 2030 Energy Policy:

  • Improve energy efficiency by 10%
  • Reduce consumption of petroleum products by 40%
  • Increase total renewable energy production by 25%

The Green Municipal Fund is financed by the Government of Canada and implemented by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).

I would like to express my sincere thanks to FCM for making it easier for Canadian municipalities to go green and adopt sustainable management practices that are sensitive to climate change impacts.
Guillaume Lamoureux, Mayor
