IMPORTANT NOTICE TO RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES ALONG RIVERSIDE DRIVE IN THE WAKEFIELD SECTOR

START OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE WATERFRONT BOARDWALK

As part of the Canada 150 Community Revitalization Project of Wakefield Bay, village of Wakefield, La Pêche (Québec), initiated by the Wakefield La Pêche Chamber, in partnership with the Municipality of La Pêche, Canada Economic Development (CED), the Centre local de développement des Collines-de-l’Outaouais (CLD) and Tourisme Outaouais (TO), construction work on the waterfront boardwalk along Riverside Drive is scheduled to begin Monday, February 26, 2018 and end on March 30, 2018.

The work will consist of the installation of pilons and a steel structure, on which will be built a 200 metre wooden platform (boardwalk) with a guard rail, starting from the parking at Boutique Jamboree to near the railway bridge (green bridge).

The work will require the temporary closure of a traffic lane on a section of Riverside Drive. Appropriate signage will be installed shortly.

Short term traffic interruptions are also expected for the movement of machinery and equipment, as well as for the supply of construction materials..

The hours of operation of the construction site are from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, there should be no work during the weekends..

Considering the nature of the work, in addition to certain inconveniences for traffic, it is to be expected that there will be some inconveniences caused by the noise of the machinery and equipment in operation on the construction site, although mitigation measures are planned..

The boardwalk is the last phase of a community project of revitalization of infrastructure along Wakefield Bay. A project “for the community by the community”, it will link three parks: Place Roquebrune, Geggie and Peace Parks, making a safe, continuous and beautiful waterfront path along the Gatineau River that will be accessible to all citizens of La Pêche, of all ages and including those citizens with reduced mobility..
