Wakefield Waterfront Revitalization Project and Borrowing By-Law: Opening of a register
January 20, 2017

The Municipality wishes to inform the population that a public notice was published, following the adoption of By-Law 17-734, Règlement 17-734 décrétant une dépense de 400 000$ et un emprunt de 370 000 $ afin de permettre le projet de revitalisation du secteur riverain de la rivière Gatineau, secteur Wakefield, indicating that a register would be opened to allow persons qualified to vote (under the conditions set out in the Public Notice) to request that By-Law 17-734 be submitted to a referendum.

Five hundred (500) signatures are required in order for a referendum to be held. If there are fewer signatures registered than the required number, the by-law will be considered approved. If the required number of signatures is registered, the municipal council will have to decide whether to cancel the borrowing by-law (and by way of consequence the contribution of the Municipality to the revitalization project) or submit it to a referendum.

To sign the register requesting that a referendum be held, persons qualified to vote must come to the Municipal Office on January 25, 2017, between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m..
